Situated in the village of Salen, a mere 15 minute drive from the ferry terminal at Craignure. Its central location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the island of Mull. Click here for more about the location and how to find us.

Rowan cottage has been in the family for 4 generations, in 1998 a major refurbishment plan was undertaken, to upgrade the cottage to its present STB 3 Star Grading classification.
During the summer months you will find this area an abundance of colour with pots and troughs of flowers.
A bus service stops at the village post office where a timetable is available. Normally the bus service meets all summer ferries at Craignure.
Private car parking is available opposite the cottage.
Salen is one of the most central points on the isle of Mull.
The largest town Tobermory, is to be found 10 miles to the North and the historical and spiritual island of Iona is 46 miles to the South.
For golfers, The isle of Mull offers two 9 hole courses, one in Tobermory and the other at Craignure.
Both freshwater and sea fishing spots are only a short drive away and advice about the best spots can be taken locally.
For those of you who are more energetic the foot of Ben More can be reached by car within 30 minutes. Parking the car at Dhiseig by the shore on Loch Na Keal this Munro at 966m can be climbed in 5 hours.
Within the village you will find Salen Hotel which is only a 5 minute stroll to and a 7 minute stagger back.
The Hotel is fully licensed and serves bar meals and dinners.
There is a an Italian restaurant a little further away.
There is one shop within the village, its close being only 150m away and is beside the Post Office and telephone box.
A walk of around 20 minutes in the opposite direction will take you to the Glenforsa Hotel where there is a small airstrip for light aircraft. Again the hotel is fully licensed and serves bar meals and dinners.
Bikes are available to hire from 'On Yer Bike' in the village. A folder is to be found within the cottage containing details of the bike hire and of all the places to visit and things to do on the island.
Essential groceries can be arranged to be supplied if required for your arrival (eggs, milk, bread etc). Please indicate on the booking form.
Coal can be ordered in advance for the open fire and will be available on your arrival (small bags can be purchased at the shops).
There is a picnic bench and barbecue area across the road in the croft behind the old house and byre which belongs to the cottage. Access is gained through gate at side of old byre.
